synopsis

In a stagnant world where wheels turn without purpose and smog stretches far beyond the horizon, Rhewis, the young heir of a High house, finds herself entangled in the schemes of those seeking knowledge beyond human understanding and those left to rot in the shadows. Simultaneously, she is being pulled into the depths of her mind, and perhaps into a world beyond, by an unknown entity.

General

This comic is something I've kind of been working on since I started digital art. the main character, Rhewis, was actually my first ever digital character. the story and characters are completely different but its nice being able to finally get some ideas down and see how my art will evolve even further from where these characters started.

the comic I estimate will be around 11-13 chapters. each chapter roughly having 60-80 pages. (kinda got out of hand when writing this thing)

Taking place after the Bonfire of the Dolls (end of Act lll), Eclipse is a haunted doll- once one of hundreds, but now one of the few left not condemned to the purging bonfires that consumed New Albion. The two spirits inhabiting this doll don’t remember their name in life, or who it was that called them back up, but they each answer to Sun and Moon respectively depending on the time of day. When it’s Sun speaking through the radio in their chest, the volume turns up and the channels skip sporadically. Moon tends to stick to short clips of a single channel, but with a terrible, gravely quality to the sound.

You, on the other hand, are an enforcer. It’s your job to find stray dolls (and disobedient citizens) and to put them down. But when you come across this strange celestial doll, something about them gives you pause… now you’re the very kind of fugitive you were meant to hunt down, hiding this haunted doll and trying to unravel the mystery of their dual existence and their obscured past.

Eclipse redesign/headcanons

This one… there’s A LOT I wanna talk about

It might not seem like it but this design was actually the most difficult of them all. At first I had no idea what to do with Eclipse because it’s much easier for me to work on designs when they have a certain theme/aesthetic like steampunk for Solar, weirdcore for KC, etc. So a couple of brainstorms later I realized I wanna make him look like a zombie. He is basically a walking dead at this point lmao. I took inspiration from mlp infection AUs, pics of abandoned dolls, even watched a horror movie to catch this vibe. The biggest problem was that I couldn’t make it too obvious: no ripped clothes or broken limbs and visible teeth because his body is new and I doubt his creator would make him look like an actual zombie for whatever reason. So I decided to play with shapes instead: make him look like a distorted version of Solar as if creator has a very vague idea on how dca models look.

I think I managed to do that. I hope so

What does sun and moon or eclipse if he included thoughts about there is many different versions such as daycare attendant, mers, gods, flowers, fairies, cryptics, aliens, vampires, steampunks, cyberpunk, ihops, candies, humans, cowboys, mafia, pirates, naga, magical beings, worms etc etc of themselves created by the love of artists and writers? And which one of it peak their interests the most?

It's incredible! Humans are so creative!! I like the one where I'm a DRAGON! Ohh, I love candy ones, there's a candy store too!

There's a lovely butterfly one. A firefly squid one, too. Those are good. (What's ihops? Is that a rabbit one?)

We like the cryptid and knight ones.

Sun was easy because I already knew he likes dragons and candy. The OTHERS? Fought for my life to think of what AUs they would like

MEANWHILE IN HOME SWEET BAR AU🍻

Eclipse, Ruin and all of the Infernal Machine staff are standing outside... As the sound of something large shuffling around inside can be heard. Along with some strange bird calls...

Eclipse: Alright... Who did it? I'm not mad I just want to know. Who put an emu in my bar?

Bartender 1: Honestly Eclipse, I have no idea. I just came back from the stock room and it was right there... And then it chased me out.

Bartender 2: Yeah I just walked in to start my shift and it was there. It had hate in its eyes. It looked like it was going to frickin mangle me so I backed up and went out the same way I came in.

Eclipse: (Sharp inhale) Oh... I think I can beat it in the HATRED department.

Ruin: Eclipse don't, I'm calling animal control.

Eclipse: That'll just take too long, it's a stupid bird. I've got it. (Goes in to deal with the big angry flightless bird)

Bartender 1: ...You think he can get rid of it?

Ruin: (Sighs) Well, Eclipse has a sea of untapped rage... But if the entire army of Australia couldn't beat these things, I don't think he's going to be very successful here.

(It's like the sound effects of Solar vs Jack, although with a lot more swearing and bird calls)

Bartender 2: Still... Who let's an emu into a bar? Was it a prank?

Bloodmoon: (Nobody even noticed he was coming up behind, initially for a kill... But now intrigued by the conversation) What is an emu?

The two human bartenders jump, Frank waves and Ruin is unfazed as he's looking up the number of animal control.

Ruin: A big angry flightless bird that Eclipse is most likely fighting off with a broom... Trying to get it out of the bar. But I think it's winning the fight.

Bloodmoon: (Chuckles and races inside, sensing a challenge)

The sounds increase 10x now peppered with the sounds of Bloodmoon laughing and snarling... Before all goes suddenly still... And Eclipse, rather disturbed, pokes his head out of the main door. Although it's clear he's splattered with a lot of blood.

Eclipse: ...okay... So somebody go around and try to drag one of the dumpsters out here to the front. We gotta dispose of an 80 pound dead bird... Wait... Oh gross... A... A 76 pound dead bird, no wait... Damn he's still eating it... 70 pounds? ...65 pounds... Wait... Wait DON'T YOU DARE THROW UP!!!

Ruin: (After a moment, changed from looking up animal control to something else...) Ah yes hello, Grimsly Crime Scene Cleaners? My name is Ruin and I am inquiring to see if cleaning up a mutilated emu in the middle of a Steampunk Bar might be something your services cover? Ah... Yes? Oh that's covered in your cleaning packages? Jolly good, I shall see you in a bit then!

They never speak of this incident again...

Yippee, chapter 2!

ECLIPSE - a 10 page look into the mindsets of Russell and Camilo as the world ends around them. Russell shares a part of his backstory, as Camilo listens unsure how to react.

I completed this comic over a 2 week period as part of a project for school - please read it from left to right, as if it was a physical comic book :)

ECLIPSE is a comic set in the late 1800s in the Wild West. It’s set in an alternate steampunk reality where society has progressed into a spacefaring age. Unfortunately, news has hit the earth that our sun will go out in a few months leaving the world in a panic to get off-world and set off into new galaxies far away.

The story follows Camilo; a runaway man attempting to run away from his past and travel to the rocket ships all the way across the country; and Russell; an ex-military cowboy trying his best to forget the things he’s seen and peacefully wait for the end of the world.

Upon meeting, Russell agrees to help Camilo get to the rocketships, but both are uncertain about their future as they travel the land together - bonding and sharing their stories before they run out of time.

The second comic i am creating for this story follows Camilo’s backstory, and the impending clock counting down against them. I hope to have it finished soon, however i have a HUGE workload with my much longer comic series ZERO that i am publishing later this year (which will also be available online on my blog @zerocomicofficial). Hopefully people will want to read more of this comic, and i can’t wait to show people more of it’s world and characters :)!!
